Ready for spring?
We are so ready for spring at The Yarn Basket as we are sure all of you are so we made this comfy, easy knit and purl cape. Our wonderful yarn rep came through with a cash and carry load of blue heron cotton loop and one skein made this cape. Really cute on, too

Cardigans or any sweaters for that matter are needed in our Iowa winters!
If you have knit any of hannah fettig's patterns, you know how much fun they are. Here is her latest book and beginning of Birdie fair isle cardigan. I am using a do tweed yarn of Skacel called Kenzie. Hope to get this sweater done to wear for our upcoming brioche class. (No connection just want to show it off soon!)

Vice yarns -truly a vice
Look at some of the col colors Vice yarns come in! We made the boneyard shawl (as seen on Ravelry.). We used one skein but you can use 2 for more for a longer shawl and have any length you want. We have a nice selection in stock now so come check out The Yarn Basket or call (712-792-2890). Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Gap-tactic with bulky yarn
Having admired the pattern gaptastic on Ravelry for so long, I finally found the perfect yarn to make it with. The requirements had to be fast, soft and warm and Rowan's alpaca chunky was perfect. Use a 15 circular needle and cast on 115 stitches for the chunky yarn. You will love it as well as someone on your Christmas list.

Happy Thanksgiving and now Merry Christmas. We made this cute wall hanging from a cardinal bird panel. Fast and easy to make in time for the holidays.
